The Bose-Einstein condensate, created at bottom of a large underground chamber, is the first discovery of its kind. Scientists think the superhot fluid acts as a sort of virtual vacuum, quantum space without mass that holds asymptotically stable particles.
"In the long run of cosmology, this discovery will change our understanding of cosmology," Jorge Muñoz and Daniel Estevez explained.
"Our results show that the existence of super massive systems matter in the universe has not been limited to just this galaxy or even the Milky Way galaxy, but rather has been found in virtually every galaxy and star cluster," Muñoz Estevez, with Universidad Nacional de Ciudad México, said.
